The Interview

In this episode of The Interview series, recorded at Spring Fair 2022, host Karl McKeever is joined by Green & Black’s co-founder Jo Fairley — one of the UK's leading female entrepreneurs whose businesses and brands have been successful because their values are embedded into their operational DNA.

Leaving school at 16 with six ‘O’ Levels, Jo went on to become the UK’s youngest-ever magazine editor, before setting out on her entrepreneurial journey with the launch of Green & Black’s in 1991.

Here she talks about her experience of founding a business during a recession, the importance of being able to change direction and staying true to her core belief that doing good for your people and the planet simply makes good business sense.

She share her views on the secret sauce for keeping it ‘special’. The importance of regarding it all as an adventure. Why it will probably all the ‘okay’. And what companies must do to attract consumers that are increasingly judging brands on their values and choosing to spend their money with brands that are aligned to their own worlds view.
